We wanted to stain the wood a darker color and put on some new snazzier handles... doesn't sound too tough - right?
This meant sanding doen all the surfaces to remove the old stain...
Note: unlike the picture below you should always wear a mask, even if you are assuming the project is a small one... take the advice from us: inhaling a pound of saw dust isn't fun... we were coughing for days...
After 4 and a half hours of sanding, we broke the borrowed sander... (sorry again Ann) and learned another lesson: If a tool is less than $50 - buy it don't borrow it...
To date, we sanded and stained all the dresser drawers - but we still have to complete sanding the main dresser sides, and then apply a polyurethane coat to it all!

That looks awesome! I know my roommate just went through refinishing a bunch of her furniture - it's definitely a project I'm not up for anytime soon... :) (Just be careful with the furniture tops ... she had a surprise fake top so it couldn't be stained.)
