Nova Scotia

After the wedding, we somehow managed to scrape ourselves out of bed and hop on the ferry to Nova Scotia. We then hightailed it to the northern section of the province - Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. It was just an incridible drive, and given that we were recovering from the night before, we were happy it was cool and cloudy out.

When exploring the Cabot trail we decided to go on our first trail run! There was a 5.7 mile trail that we weren't sure if we could fit in the 1.5 hours we had left of the day - so we decided to run it! It was our first real attempt to run on both hills and for a 2.5 mile stretch some complicated trail... and it was a real success! Both of us ran really well, and the view was incredible. It was the highlight of our trip!

We still ended up pulling into our Bed & Breakfast in the dark, but woke up to an incredible veiw or Ingonish Bay. We then did another quick hike before heading out to see the Alexander Grahm Bell Museum. After that, we had our first taste of Nova Scotia Lobster - which was incredibly good and fun to try to dismantle :).



The next leg of our trip was to drive along the South Shore of the mainland of Nova Scotia, past Halifax to a little area called Peggy's Cove. Peggy's Cove is just a small town with 30 buildings, most of them houses, with a small cove for fish boats, and a very pretty lighthouse. We got there in time for a beautiful sunset and wonderful dinner of fresh seafood and a bottle of Nova Scotian wine. Then we discovered our Bed and Breakfast for the night was just on the cove with a view of the lighthouse. It was a unique place, and seemed as though it hadn't changed in 100 years!

Nova Scotia was incredible! We will definitly be back!
