Machu Picchu

We spent two days at this incredible Inca ruin... this was the retreat for the royal Inca family and nobility. An incredible place - built with so much care and detail!

The two days were great - it meant we had time to explore and hang out with Llamas... The first day we arrived at 6 am in the mist. It was really spectacular. This also meant we were able to climb up the side mountain of Huyna Picchu and explore the ruins there as well. This was a short but very steep hike with stairs that were seperated with over 2 feet in height at points. When we finished our climb the mist had risen to reveal a perfect day. And we were able to then stay until the late afternoon and see the setting sun over the mountain tops. The next day we set off in the other direction towards the Inca trail and saw Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate - this is where we ended up playing with our new Llama friend...
